1 Timothy 1:3-5
New International Version
Timothy Charged to Oppose False Teachers
3 As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain people not to teach false doctrines any longer 4 or to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. Such things promote controversial speculations rather than advancing God’s work—which is by faith. 5 The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.
The Ephesian Church had grown to be quite powerful and strong was also bearing the weight of False Teachers! from creating myths based on false genealogy , creating purely false doctrine to being conceited, argumentive and using their positions of spiritual power for personal financial gain, they were moving the Church away from BIblical doctrine! We see some of the same things happening in the Church today! Verse 5 gives us a powerful reminder of how we are to act as believers:
5 The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.
My prayer is that you would live out Verse 5 everyday of your lives!
